    Brief information about the department:-
    1. To protect and preserve trees within the municipal limits under the Maharashtra (Urban Areas) Protection and Preservation of Trees Act, 1975.
    2. To develop / beautify the road dividers line, open plots, parks and ponds within the municipal limits.
    3. To prepare permits for cutting trees that interfere with development work, to prepare permits for pruning trees.
    4. To provide no-objection certificates for planting various types of trees by developers around new buildings.
    5. To redress complaints received regarding illegal cutting of trees.
    Departmental Functions:-
    1. To manage all the work of the Tree Authority, Parks and Forest Conservation Department and to plan the work in liaison with the Hon. Commissioner and Hon. Deputy Commissioner.
    2. To implement the policies of the Government of Maharashtra and to take action on them subject to the instructions and decisions received from the Hon. State Government from time to time.
    3. To develop / beautify the plots reserved for the parks, vacant plots, gardens and ponds in the limits of the Municipal Corporation after they come into the possession of the Municipal Corporation.
    4. To survey the plots for tree plantation and to plant them in groups.
    5. To protect, preserve the trees in the limits of the Municipal Corporation, to redress the complaints received on the disfigurement of trees and illegal felling of trees.
    6. To submit the opinion of the Tree Authority Department to provide the developers with the permission given by the Town Planning Department to plant trees according to their construction area around the newly constructed buildings.
    7. Pruning dangerous branches of trees on both sides of the road.
