Vasai-Virar is a city in Palghar district. It is located to the north of Mumbai. The total area of Vasai-Virar city is 311 sq. km. Vasai-Virar city is separated from Mumbai and Mira-Bhayander by Vasai Creek. It is connected to Mumbai by rail service and the Mumbai-Ahmedabad National Highway. It is also connected to Navi Mumbai, Thane, Bhiwandi, Kalyan and Panvel by the Vasai Diva Railway Line.
Vasai Virar city is a rapidly growing city. The Vaitarna River is in the north of the Vasai Virar sub-region. The Vasai Creek is in the south, the Arabian Sea is in the west, and the Tungar Range, which is completely covered with forests, is on the eastern border of the region from Sasunavghar to Chandip village.
Many hills and isolated peaks are visible in the east of the region. Chinchoti Waterfall, Tungareshwar Temple, and dense forests have created great opportunities for tourism development in the eastern part.
Vasai Virar City was established on 3 July 2009. Vasai Virar City Municipal Corporation is striving for transparency, e-governance and complete cleanliness in administration.
