National Clean Air Programme (NCAP) VVCMC
Need and Challenges
Need and importance of Clean Air
- Improved air quality leading to better health
- Reducing impact of global warming issues
- Breathing issues are resolved just by improving air quality

Challenges faced by City

Bottleneck roads creating traffic spots leading to higher pollution

Spreading awareness in the people for importance of Air quality

Tree plantation for making the city carbon neutral in future

Dust pollution in the air through vehicular traffic

Solid waste spots

High traffic Junctions
Electric/ Hybrid Vehicles
VVCMC has focused on the major component i.e Electric hybrid vehicle. Looking at the topography of city area, VVCMC is in process to procure 15 standard electric hybrid machines of 9 meter with 4 electric charging stations for our bus depot. It will considerably reduce the pollution level. Also, It will increase awareness among people for using e- transport facility.

Divider Plantation on 7 major Raods
Planting greenery along road dividers to act as a natural barrier, reducing vehicular emissions and improving overall air quality.

Installation of 11 Mist Fountains
Deploying mist fountains in high-traffic areas to control airborne dust, lower ambient temperatures, and improve air quality

Truck-Mounted 5 Water Sprinkler System
Using water sprinkler systems mounted on trucks to suppress dust on roads and construction sites, effectively reducing particulate matter in the atmosphere.

Blacktopping of 4.5 km Roads
Resurfacing and paving roads with asphalt to eliminate dust emissions from damaged or deteriorated surfaces, thereby ensuring smoother, safer, and cleaner transportation routes.

Procured 2 Vacuum based Mechanical Sweeper machines

- The component is to use latest technology in crematorium
- VVCMC is currently constructing 8 PNG based crematoriums. Out of these, we have completed 1 crematorium and it is in use now & 90% work of the remaining crematoriums is also completed & these will be soon in operation.
- Also we are continuously encouraging people for using this crematorium facility instead of traditional method of burning woods. This is eco-friendly way of disposition.

Creation of the Green Zone by Miyawaki Method

Miyawaki is a technique pioneered by Japnese botanist Akira Miyawaki, that helps to build dense, native forests. Several species of plants are grown together which takes nutrients from each other and a forest which naturally grows in 300 years can be grown in 30-35 years. Trees grow 10 times faster and absorb 30 times more CO2.
Prepare plan for creation of green buffers along the Traffic corridors

- Currently VVCMC has developed Green plantation in approximate 120 Kilometer dividers. In addition to this, our next goal in to develop approx 40 Kilometer dividers with Green Plantation as a part of NCAP program.
- This will prevent noise as well as air pollution of vehicles and will act as a buffer for residential areas as the dust particles will automatically be reduced.
